I have been building and maintaining garden
ponds for many years. I am also very frugal (cheap) and
therefore do not like spending the big bucks many people believe
is necessary to enjoy this hobby. I have made many
mistakes and through these have learned quite a bit on how to
design, build, maintain, stock and repair Koi ponds on an
affordable budget. Please

latest pond.
I have experimented with my own filter designs over the years
and have come up with one that really works very well and costs
little to build and maintain. I have built and installed
several of these filters for various people through a small
construction business that I run
in the summer months. All my customers report that the
filter design works great for their ponds.
I've
posted my designs here.
Using the internet as a research tool is a must for the frugal
ponder. Through it I have gleaned many ideas and solutions
for various problems. Please check out some of the links I
have posted here:
Koi Links.
The secret to keeping your pond crystal clear is a balanced
ecosystem with adequate sun and shade. Part of a balanced
ecosystem is maintaining a modest fish load and to refrain
from overfeeding. If you want a pond with large numbers of
fish you'll need special filtration and your costs will rise
dramatically.
